To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and distressingly inhabited. Soul and spirit are stretched - along with body - making pregnancy a time of transition, growth, and profound beginnings. ~Anne Christian Buchanan and Debra K. Kingsporn
Pregnancy Support
I enjoy working with women on their journeys through motherhood. Pregnancy is assumed to be a time of excitement and joy, and it is, but in truth, it encompasses so much more. Women can experience feelings of loss, depression and anxiety, but often believe that it is not okay to share these feelings with others. There are also many changes in body, self and relationships happening during this time. I know- I've been there too! I provide a safe space to explore all the emotions, challenges and changes that come up during pregnancy.
In addition to emotional support I have completed an 85 hour prenatal yoga teacher training and am happy to incorporate some movement into our sessions.
Postpartum Support
Welcome to motherhood! If you are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally high and low, and exhausted, lost from your old self and world, you are not alone! These are common feelings for new mothers to have as they find their footing and adjust to this huge life change. You do not have to go through this time alone. I offer counseling to new moms as well as a support group where you can learn to nurture yourself and your baby. Group topics include:
-
attachment and bonding
-
self care
-
changes in identity
-
changes in relationships
Groups are for mamas with babies under the age of 1. Group meets Thursdays at 12:30-1:45. Babes in arms welcome.
